Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance/Assurance and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (L:EXPN), which rose 7.52% or 83.00 points to trade at 1187.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Vodafone Group PLC (L:VOD) added 3.89% or 8.3500 points to end at 222.8000 and Inmarsat PLC (L:ISA) was up 2.17% or 22.00 points to 1036.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (L:AAL), which fell 4.70% or 24.25 points to trade at 491.75 at the close. Wolseley PLC (L:WOS) declined 4.60% or 175.00 points to end at 3630.00 and Glencore PLC (L:GLEN) was down 4.24% or 4.6500 points to 105.0500.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1301 to 795 and 430 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anglo American PLC (L:AAL) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.70% or 24.25 to 491.75.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.60 to $1089.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.60% or 0.70 to hit $44.57 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.38 to trade at $48.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.5105, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7078.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 99.48.
