Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 2.37% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Euro Reliance (AT:EREr), which rose 11.43% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.950 at the close. Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr) added 7.41% or 0.120 points to end at 1.740 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) was up 6.70% or 0.0150 points to 0.2390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which lost 9.76% or 0.0830 points to trade at 0.7670 in late trade. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) declined 6.63% or 0.049 points to end at 0.690 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) shed 6.60% or 0.013 points to 0.184.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 26 and 13 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.17% or 2.25 to $1285.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.41% or 0.20 to hit $48.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $49.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7922.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 94.76.
