Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.25% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 5.28% or 3.20 points to trade at 63.75 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 4.76% or 0.24 points to end at 5.19 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 3.75% or 1.61 points to 44.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 1.11% or 0.20 points to trade at 18.30 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 0.27% or 0.014 points to end at 5.145 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.11% or 0.01 points to 14.26.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 49 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.45% to 17.95 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.55% or 1.05 to $42.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.00% or 0.86 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.72% or 21.20 to trade at $1256.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7904.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 93.99.
