Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which rose 1.89% or 0.0140 points to trade at 0.7530 at the close. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) added 0.21% or 0.0300 points to end at 14.1900 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) was up 0.05% or 0.0030 points to 5.6180 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 2.37% or 0.0253 points to trade at 1.0400 in late trade. Semapa (LS:SEM) declined 0.90% or 0.1200 points to end at 13.2250 and Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) shed 0.70% or 0.0270 points to 3.8540.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 23 to 9 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 0.21% or 0.12 to $56.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.32% or 0.17 to hit $54.07 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1139.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.0379, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8492.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 103.51.
