Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR), which rose 3.69% or 0.0990 points to trade at 2.7790 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) added 3.54% or 0.0007 points to end at 0.0205 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 2.77% or 0.2900 points to 10.7500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which lost 4.15% or 0.1300 points to trade at 3.0000 in late trade. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) declined 1.17% or 0.0200 points to end at 1.6900 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) 0.00% or 0.0000 points to 0.0950.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 33 to 7 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was up 0.92% or 0.46 to $50.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.85% or 0.42 to hit $49.55 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.44% or 5.65 to trade at $1264.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1354, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7665.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 93.52.
