Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.78% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which rose 3.20% or 17.30 points to trade at 557.50 at the close. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 3.06% or 0.380 points to end at 12.780 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) was up 2.49% or 3.00 points to 123.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Megion (MCX:MFGS), which lost 3.85% or 20.0 points to trade at 500.0 in late trade. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 1.89% or 4.10 points to end at 212.60 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) shed 1.50% or 1.14 points to 74.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 80 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.72% to 22.870.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.39% or 4.74 to $1223.94 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $49.65 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.19% to 59.3975, while EUR/RUB fell 0.23% to 67.3240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 95.99.
