Proactive Investors - Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) workers in the UK will continue to strike for a further six months after overwhelmingly backing a new mandate for industrial action.
Announcing the new mandate amid the Coventry-based workers' nineteenth day of action on Wednesday, GMB Organiser Amanda Gearing said members were in it “for the long haul”.
Some 800 workers from Amazon’s Coventry site walked out on Wednesday, amid an ongoing dispute over pay and conditions at the facility.
“These workers are angry, they know their rights and they will not go away,” GMB added, following a vote which saw 99% of workers back continued action out of a turnout of 54%.
Some GMB members met MPs in parliament on Wednesday over the dispute, while Gearing was due to give evidence to the government’s joint committee on human rights.
