Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 10.00% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.121 at the close. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) added 9.36% or 0.061 points to end at 0.717 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 5.52% or 0.180 points to 3.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which lost 9.74% or 0.2600 points to trade at 2.4100 in late trade. Titan Cement Company SA (AT:TTNr) declined 1.83% or 0.390 points to end at 20.950 and Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) shed 1.49% or 0.030 points to 1.990.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 29 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.75 to $1350.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.43% or 0.61 to hit $42.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 0.55 to trade at $44.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1162, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8590.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 95.70.
