Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 2.34% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.8750 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 1.73% or 0.0280 points to end at 1.6490 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 1.27% or 0.0090 points to 0.7150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 11.37% or 0.0183 points to trade at 0.1427 in late trade. Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) declined 1.13% or 0.0600 points to end at 5.2600 and EDP (LS:EDP) shed 1.10% or 0.0310 points to 2.8000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 11 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 0.26% or 0.14 to $54.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $51.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.09% or 13.25 to trade at $1198.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0621, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8643.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 101.52.
