Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018), which rose 10.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.80 at the close. China Electric (TW:1611) added 10.00% or 0.83 points to end at 9.13 and Epistar (TW:2448) was up 9.98% or 2.40 points to 26.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which lost 6.07% or 0.44 points to trade at 6.81 in late trade. I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) declined 5.53% or 0.70 points to end at 11.95 and Yieh Hsing Ent (TW:2007) shed 5.37% or 0.340 points to 5.990.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 418 to 354 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.21% or 0.11 to $53.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.27% or 0.15 to hit $55.80 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.05 to trade at $1238.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 30.798, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2244.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 100.52.
