Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Plastic and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Depo Auto (TW:6605), which rose 10.00% or 11.00 points to trade at 121.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Chunghwa Chem (TW:1762) added 10.00% or 3.40 points to end at 37.40 and Scpc (TW:1720) was up 9.92% or 3.65 points to 40.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 9.79% or 0.23 points to trade at 2.12 at the close. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) declined 9.76% or 0.24 points to end at 2.22 and Yoko Tech (TW:6131) was down 9.67% or 1.30 points to 12.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 622 to 222.
Shares in Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) fell to all time lows; losing 9.79% or 0.23 to 2.12. Shares in Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) fell to all time lows; down 9.76% or 0.24 to 2.22. Shares in Scpc (TW:1720) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.92% or 3.65 to 40.45.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.75% or 0.32 to $42.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.67% or 0.29 to hit $44.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.79% or 8.40 to trade at $1077.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 1.13% to 32.630, while TWD/CNY rose 0.21% to 0.1951.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 99.32.
