Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 2.56% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which rose 5.87% or 0.0710 points to trade at 1.2810 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) fell 0.32% or 0.0350 points to end at 10.9500 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) was down 0.45% or 0.0290 points to 6.4240 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which fell 9.16% or 0.3750 points to trade at 3.7210 at the close. Portucel (LS:PTI) declined 6.33% or 0.1960 points to end at 2.9000 and Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) was down 5.16% or 0.4950 points to 9.0950.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 47 to 5 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Portucel (LS:PTI) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.33% or 0.1960 to 2.9000.
Brent oil for March delivery was down 5.30% or 1.52 to $27.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 6.22% or 1.84 to hit $27.73 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.78% or 19.40 to trade at $1108.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0933, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.7713.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 98.92.
