Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 3.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 9.97% or 0.447 points to trade at 4.929 at the close. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) added 9.47% or 0.136 points to end at 1.572 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) was up 8.36% or 0.158 points to 2.047 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 1.15% or 0.225 points to trade at 19.290 in late trade. Enagas (MC:ENAG) declined 0.20% or 0.055 points to end at 27.100 and Acciona (MC:ANA) shed 0.10% or 0.070 points to 68.710.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 158 to 41 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.11% or 14.00 to $1246.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.88% or 0.37 to hit $41.80 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.42 to trade at $44.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.82% to 1.1290, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7943.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 94.70.
