Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 6.36% or 0.0101 points to trade at 0.1682 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) added 5.79% or 2.60 points to end at 47.50 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was up 5.16% or 1.040 points to 21.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 3.92% or 9.60 points to trade at 235.45 in late trade. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 2.15% or 15.00 points to end at 684.10 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) shed 1.27% or 4.20 points to 327.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 123 to 91 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.38% to 31.710.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.10% or 14.75 to $1353.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.13 to hit $48.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $50.20 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.06% to 63.8406, while EUR/RUB rose 0.22% to 71.138.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.64.
