Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.85% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.91% or 0.79 points to trade at 41.93 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 1.60% or 0.50 points to end at 31.82 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.56% or 1.47 points to 95.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 0.09% or 0.10 points to trade at 111.55 in late trade. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 110.90 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) gained 0.04% or 0.01 points to 23.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 46 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.33% or 4.45 to $1345.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.14% or 0.06 to hit $43.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.06 to trade at $45.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1113, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.8548.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.09.
