Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 5.39% or 11.00 points to trade at 215.25 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) added 3.95% or 27 points to end at 711 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) was up 1.55% or 0.0126 points to 0.8245 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which lost 7.96% or 4.65 points to trade at 53.80 in late trade. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) declined 6.60% or 19.00 points to end at 269.00 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) shed 6.07% or 4.36 points to 67.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 97 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.43% to 23.340.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.46 to $1223.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.50% or 1.13 to hit $46.26 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.20% or 1.05 to trade at $48.84 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 59.8393, while EUR/RUB rose 0.29% to 68.3800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 95.64.
