Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.42%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.42%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 3.70% or 0.35 points to trade at 9.82 at the close. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) added 2.78% or 0.79 points to end at 29.22 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) was up 2.52% or 0.25 points to 10.18 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which lost 2.54% or 0.53 points to trade at 20.37 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 2.16% or 0.23 points to end at 10.41 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) shed 1.44% or 0.58 points to 39.63.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 171 to 155 and 37 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.18% to 38.32 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.18% or 2.35 to $1326.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.69% or 1.21 to hit $43.69 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.09% or 0.13 to trade at $148.85 .

USD/BRL was up 0.89% to 3.3437, while EUR/BRL rose 1.18% to 3.7619.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.33.
