Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.88% or 0.90 points to trade at 24.11 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 2.66% or 0.09 points to end at 3.47 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 1.69% or 0.120 points to 7.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE5), which lost 4.30% or 0.65 points to trade at 14.47 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.02% or 0.71 points to end at 16.94 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) shed 3.56% or 0.38 points to 10.28.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 191 to 142 and 39 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.40% to 33.06.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.25 to $1312.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.30% or 1.53 to hit $44.82 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.67% or 0.97 to trade at $146.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.2311, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.6044.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.02.
