Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the REITs, Energy and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 1.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS), which rose 2.81% or 0.09 points to trade at 3.29 at the close. Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:INE) added 2.80% or 0.38 points to end at 13.93 and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:FVI) was up 2.77% or 0.13 points to 4.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG), which lost 8.78% or 0.38 points to trade at 3.95 in late trade. Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:SEA) declined 7.61% or 1.57 points to end at 19.06 and Sandstorm Gold Ltd . (TSX:SSL) shed 5.55% or 0.43 points to 7.32.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 725 to 262 and 107 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 13.74% to 13.91.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.46% or 29.60 to $1,993.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.75% or 0.53 to hit $70.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.62 to trade at $74.61 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.04% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 102.46.
