Oct 16 (Reuters) - Futures for Canada's main stock index edged down on Wednesday as lower oil prices pushed down energy shares.
However, oil prices were stable in early trading after industry data showed a surprise decline in U.S. crude inventories and tension over the disappearance of a prominent Saudi journalist stoked supply worries. O/R
December futures on the S&P/TSX index SXFc1 were marginally down 0.16 percent at 7:04 a.m. ET.
Factory sales data for August is due at 8:30 a.m. ET
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX .GSPTSE closed up 170.27 points, or 1.10 percent, to 15,579.74 on Tuesday. Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures 1YMc1 were down 0.22 percent at 7:04 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 were down 0.23 percent and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures NQc1 were down 0.23 percent. .N
