Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 4.47% or 32.80 points to trade at 766.30 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 2.77% or 0.0219 points to end at 0.8138 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) was up 2.57% or 0.645 points to 25.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 6.38% or 0.830 points to trade at 12.170 in late trade. MTS (MCX:MTSS) declined 2.95% or 7.05 points to end at 232.00 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) shed 2.82% or 6.10 points to 210.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 93 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.16% to 22.380.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.07% or 0.92 to $1247.32 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.89% or 0.82 to hit $44.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.90 to trade at $46.94 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.48% to 59.0692, while EUR/RUB rose 0.24% to 66.5160.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 96.36.
