Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 5.32% or 3.68 points to trade at 72.89 at the close. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 4.56% or 2.88 points to end at 65.98 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 4.10% or 2.05 points to 51.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which lost 2.92% or 2.25 points to trade at 74.70 in late trade. Bank Millennium SA (WA:MILP) declined 2.65% or 0.18 points to end at 6.62 and Powszechna Kasa Oszczednosci Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) shed 2.41% or 0.81 points to 32.79.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 336 to 228 and 194 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.97% or 1.58 to $51.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.79% or 1.56 to hit $54.36 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.65 to trade at $1209.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.02% to 4.3036, while USD/PLN rose 0.20% to 4.0820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 102.13.
