Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.19% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 3.67% or 52.25 points to trade at 1,475.20 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) added 1.58% or 54.60 points to end at 3,515.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 1.17% or 13.45 points to 1,167.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM), which lost 2.60% or 133.70 points to trade at 5,001.15 in late trade. LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) declined 2.58% or 132.30 points to end at 5,001.65 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 1.59% or 10.60 points to 656.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 3.67% to 1,475.00, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 1.51% to settle at 3,512.75 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 1.18% to close at 1,167.30.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.45% to 592.20 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 1.28% to settle at 2,995.15 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.18% to 7,419.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1224 to 713 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1955 fell and 1350 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.49% to 11.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.56% or 11.05 to $1,967.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.49% or 0.36 to hit $74.44 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.31 to trade at $78.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 82.03, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 92.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 99.36.
