Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 3.48% or 81.65 points to trade at 2,429.00 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 3.04% or 6.50 points to end at 220.15 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 2.70% or 105.05 points to 3,989.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 4.12% or 14.20 points to trade at 330.10 in late trade. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 1.97% or 34.45 points to end at 1,716.00 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) shed 1.88% or 80.90 points to 4,230.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 2.65% to 8,512.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 1.74% to settle at 5,713.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.56% to close at 760.70.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.17% to 378.95 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.17% to settle at 1,410.95 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.89% to 2,536.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1570 to 389 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2676 rose and 823 declined, while 128 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.71% to 12.59.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.09% or 1.85 to $1,988.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.41% or 4.09 to hit $79.76 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 5.18% or 4.14 to trade at $84.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 82.31, while EUR/INR rose 0.45% to 89.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 102.15.
