Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.44% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 5.90% or 286.00 points to trade at 5,130.50 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 2.32% or 21.20 points to end at 936.15 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 2.24% or 35.10 points to 1,601.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 1.60% or 5.75 points to trade at 353.00 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.35% or 43.60 points to end at 3,196.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) shed 1.24% or 31.10 points to 2,469.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 2.37% to 936.45, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.23% to settle at 1,600.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 1.66% to close at 1,304.90.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.32% to 3,196.60 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 1.26% to settle at 2,469.90 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 0.80% to 1,538.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1052 to 974 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1838 rose and 1669 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.67% to 10.90.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 6.40 to $1,939.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.49% or 0.44 to hit $90.60 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.38 to trade at $94.08 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.15, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 88.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 104.94.
