Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.46% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 3.04% or 79.10 points to trade at 2,685.00 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 2.89% or 14.90 points to end at 530.85 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 1.75% or 7.35 points to 427.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which lost 2.48% or 48.65 points to trade at 1,916.05 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.56% or 14.65 points to end at 922.80 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 1.35% or 4.90 points to 357.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 1.93% to 1,066.05, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.77% to settle at 427.90 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.45% to close at 2,661.35.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.00% to 9,203.25 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 0.63% to settle at 3,253.15 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 0.15% to 1,421.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1026 to 913 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1843 rose and 1678 declined, while 169 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.49% to 13.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 1.15 to $2,020.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.27% or 0.19 to hit $70.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $74.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 82.32, while EUR/INR rose 0.42% to 89.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 102.35.
