Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.62%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 2.34% or 18.75 points to trade at 819.50 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 2.24% or 21.55 points to end at 981.50 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 2.10% or 59.90 points to 2,912.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which lost 1.25% or 23.50 points to trade at 1,855.95 in late trade. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 0.90% or 22.25 points to end at 2,462.55 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 0.73% or 8.35 points to 1,131.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 2.15% to 3,262.20, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.07% to settle at 2,912.40 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 1.96% to close at 445.45.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.18% to 1,856.40 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.68% to settle at 1,371.60 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 0.58% to 1,132.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1166 to 792 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2015 rose and 1436 declined, while 131 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.20% to 11.11 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.44% or 8.75 to $1,978.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.01% or 1.35 to hit $68.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.27% or 1.63 to trade at $73.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 82.37, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 88.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 102.89.
