Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.78% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 5.01% or 167.45 points to trade at 3,508.00 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 4.46% or 60.90 points to end at 1,426.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 4.24% or 49.85 points to 1,225.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which lost 1.56% or 10.60 points to trade at 670.00 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.40% or 21.90 points to end at 1,545.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 0.86% or 2.10 points to 241.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 5.13% to 3,512.00, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 4.51% to settle at 1,227.95 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 4.40% to close at 1,425.35.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.28% to 1,546.50 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.25% to settle at 240.10 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.06% to 5,090.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1311 to 616 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2104 rose and 1195 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.33% to 10.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 3.95 to $1,959.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $76.75 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.16 to trade at $81.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 82.16, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 92.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 99.61.
