Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 3.83% or 54.35 points to trade at 1,474.25 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) added 3.26% or 45.40 points to end at 1,439.00 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 2.64% or 60.25 points to 2,343.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which lost 1.73% or 2.25 points to trade at 127.60 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.43% or 17.90 points to end at 1,230.30 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) shed 1.25% or 8.10 points to 640.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 3.82% to 1,474.05, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 3.40% to settle at 1,441.10 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 2.69% to close at 2,344.85.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.40% to 1,230.25 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.80% to settle at 3,185.60 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.54% to 2,371.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 958 to 849 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1725 rose and 1566 declined, while 143 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 10.02% to 18.26 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.93% or 15.65 to $1,661.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.01% or 0.90 to hit $88.21 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.81 to trade at $93.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 82.17, while EUR/INR fell 0.36% to 80.03.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 112.75.
