Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.77% to hit a new 3-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.69%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 0.94% or 8.15 points to trade at 877.25 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) added 0.74% or 12.45 points to end at 1,692.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 0.44% or 6.10 points to 1,380.65 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which lost 3.83% or 49.35 points to trade at 1,240.65 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 3.15% or 183.80 points to end at 5,649.25 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) shed 2.97% or 53.35 points to 1,740.65.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which rose 0.74% to 1,691.55, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.43% to settle at 1,380.45 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 0.33% to close at 4,462.75.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 3.81% to 1,241.05 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 3.19% to settle at 5,650.65 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.58% to 102.15 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1540 to 399 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2360 fell and 1006 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.18% to 15.24.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.12% or 2.30 to $1,998.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.40% or 2.38 to hit $67.58 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.12% or 2.37 to trade at $73.54 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.26% to 82.45, while EUR/INR fell 0.61% to 88.52.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 102.86.
