Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Services and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Okuma Corp. (TYO:6103), which rose 3.42% or 245.00 points to trade at 7,399.00 at the close. JGC Corp. (TYO:1963) added 3.37% or 61.00 points to end at 1,868.50 and Amada Co., Ltd. (TYO:6113) was up 2.81% or 38.00 points to 1,390.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755), which lost 6.16% or 34.60 points to trade at 526.80 in late trade. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) declined 2.55% or 27.50 points to end at 1,051.50 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) shed 2.32% or 133.00 points to 5,597.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2315 to 1286 and 248 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.29% to 20.49.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.31% or 0.23 to $73.85 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.28 to hit $78.22 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 9.85 to trade at $1,966.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 138.24, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 155.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 99.28.
