Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Rubber and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233), which rose 4.51% or 16.0 points to trade at 370.5 at the close. Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) added 4.27% or 33.0 points to end at 805.0 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:8035) was up 4.10% or 485.0 points to 12300.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which lost 5.82% or 12.8 points to trade at 207.0 in late trade. Fujifilm Holdings Corp. (T:4901) declined 4.04% or 168.0 points to end at 3987.0 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) shed 2.91% or 60.0 points to 2003.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2287 to 764 and 281 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.05% to 20.91.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $50.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $53.06 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1282.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.16% to 109.14, while EUR/JPY fell 0.16% to 117.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.69.
