Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Finance & Investment and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hitachi Zosen Corp. (T:7004), which rose 7.52% or 38.0 points to trade at 543.0 at the close. Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) added 6.94% or 17.0 points to end at 262.0 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T:7211) was up 6.42% or 33.0 points to 547.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which lost 5.58% or 27.0 points to trade at 457.0 in late trade. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 2.41% or 14.0 points to end at 566.0 and Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (T:2501) shed 2.19% or 12.0 points to 535.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1335 to 578 and 84 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.95% to 34.51.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.74% or 0.34 to $46.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.17% or 0.55 to hit $47.74 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.17% or 15.15 to trade at $1283.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 104.29, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 117.19.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 94.68.
