Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Industrials and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.04%, while the MDAX index declined 0.71%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which rose 3.10% or 0.455 points to trade at 15.140 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) added 1.72% or 0.660 points to end at 39.040 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 0.83% or 1.050 points to 126.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 3.14% or 0.710 points to trade at 21.910 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 2.85% or 2.010 points to end at 68.440 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) shed 2.61% or 2.570 points to 95.850.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 1.83% to 34.970, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 1.55% to settle at 18.315 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 1.01% to close at 32.440.
The worst performers were Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 4.58% to 48.475 in late trade, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which lost 3.60% to settle at 92.750 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 2.64% to 32.580 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.26% to 26.400, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.94% to settle at 12.410 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 1.97% to close at 26.445.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 3.31% to 43.900 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 3.21% to settle at 72.290 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 2.32% to 23.135 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 485 to 379 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.39% to 17.85.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.76% or 9.55 to $1273.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.33% or 0.67 to hit $49.85 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 0.72 to trade at $50.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.0887, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.8958.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 98.75.
