Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Paper & Pulp and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.02% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Infortrend (TW:2495), which rose 10.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.80 at the close. Microtek Intl (TW:2305) added 9.97% or 0.58 points to end at 6.40 and Right Way Ind (TW:1506) was up 9.97% or 1.65 points to 18.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Microelectroni (TW:2314), which lost 9.80% or 1.20 points to trade at 11.05 in late trade. Elitegroup Com (TW:2331) declined 6.61% or 1.50 points to end at 21.20 and Edom (TW:3048) shed 5.85% or 1.15 points to 18.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 412 to 348 and 90 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.07% or 0.44 to $40.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.63% or 0.26 to hit $40.94 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.81% or 10.20 to trade at $1244.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.36% to 32.400, while TWD/CNY fell 0.20% to 0.1997.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.19.
