Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 16.38% or 1.72 points to trade at 12.22 at the close. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) added 5.45% or 0.78 points to end at 15.10 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 3.47% or 0.42 points to 12.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which lost 7.60% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.31 in late trade. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) declined 6.67% or 0.44 points to end at 6.16 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) shed 4.46% or 0.20 points to 4.28.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 172 to 134 and 16 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.59% to 43.40.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.22% or 2.75 to $1275.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.55% or 1.64 to hit $47.85 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.81% or 3.65 to trade at $133.72 .
USD/BRL was down 0.73% to 3.5057, while EUR/BRL fell 0.61% to 3.9689.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 94.54.
