Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 3.09% or 2.800 points to trade at 93.400 at the close. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) added 2.84% or 24.0 points to end at 869.0 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) was up 2.82% or 20 points to 728 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 5.68% or 13.50 points to trade at 224.05 in late trade. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) declined 4.91% or 0.0405 points to end at 0.7840 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) shed 4.32% or 129.0 points to 2856.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 106 to 104 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.35% to 22.850.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.01% or 12.40 to $1210.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.50% or 1.14 to hit $44.38 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.49% or 1.20 to trade at $46.91 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 60.4248, while EUR/RUB rose 0.83% to 68.9510.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 95.80.
