Murchison Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:MUR, OTCQB:MURMF, TSX-V:MUR.V) announced that Phase III diamond drilling has begun on the high-grade nickel, copper, cobalt Barre de Fer (BDF) zone, as well as the Syrah Target (NYSE:TGT), at its 100%-owned Haut-Plateau de la Manicouagan (HPM) project in Quebec.
The mineral exploration company said the objectives of the summer drill program include: expanding the currently defined high-grade BDF zone; testing the extent of subsurface mineralization at the Syrah Target; and defining a near surface, high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt resource at BDF.
“The team is eager to drill test numerous prospective areas for expansion of the BDF Zone in anticipation of producing a near surface high-grade nickel mineral resource estimate later this year,” Murchison Minerals CEO Troy Boisjoli said in a statement.

“With a minimum of 7,500 metres (m) of drilling planned, Murchison is well positioned to achieve this goal and truly unlock the potential of BDF and Syrah,” Boisjoli added.
Murchison noted the majority of the drilling will be allocated towards expansion and delineation at BDF, with the remainder focused on the Syrah Target - a 600m long electromagnetic (EM) anomaly located about 240m from BDF.
The company added that the current interpretation shows the possibility that Syrah and BDF are part of the same magmatic sulphide mineralizing system.
As well, Murchison Minerals reported that as a result of its recently-closed private placement, it is well funded to complete its objectives during the 2022 exploration program.
Murchison Minerals is a Canada-based exploration company focused on nickel-copper-cobalt exploration at its 100%-owned HPM project in Quebec and the exploration and development of its 100%-owned Brabant Lake zinc‐copper‐silver project in north‐central Saskatchewan.
