Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 1.47% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.1380 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 1.18% or 0.0210 points to end at 1.8000 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 1.07% or 0.1500 points to 14.1550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 6.78% or 0.0029 points to trade at 0.0399 in late trade. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) declined 6.74% or 0.0870 points to end at 1.2040 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) shed 3.44% or 0.021 points to 0.589.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 28 to 20 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was down 2.01% or 0.82 to $40.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.21% or 0.87 to hit $38.52 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.41% or 17.20 to trade at $1239.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1255, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.7835.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 95.44.
