Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which rose 5.02% or 18.25 points to trade at 381.95 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 4.91% or 16.60 points to end at 354.90 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 4.55% or 0.0475 points to 1.0925 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE), which lost 1.27% or 10.0 points to trade at 780.0 in late trade. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) declined 1.08% or 6.10 points to end at 556.60 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) shed 1.05% or 14.5 points to 1370.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 119 to 105 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.68% to 28.460.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1226.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $46.91 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.54% to 64.5211, while EUR/RUB fell 0.21% to 69.052.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 100.27.
