Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Banking and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.88% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr), which rose 7.73% or 0.160 points to trade at 2.230 at the close. Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) added 6.28% or 0.034 points to end at 0.575 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) was up 5.88% or 0.050 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which lost 15.71% or 0.082 points to trade at 0.440 in late trade. Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) declined 11.33% or 0.170 points to end at 1.330 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 5.13% or 0.080 points to 1.470.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 35 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.54% or 6.77 to $1250.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $47.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.23 to trade at $50.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0912, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8456.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.96.
