Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.47% or 2.080 points to trade at 62.030 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 3.01% or 1.92 points to end at 65.64 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 2.34% or 2.95 points to 129.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.63% or 0.18 points to trade at 10.88 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 0.59% or 0.29 points to end at 49.33 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.40% or 0.18 points to 45.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 40 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 5.55 to $1205.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.32% or 0.17 to hit $52.98 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.31 to trade at $55.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.0753, while EUR/GBP fell 0.87% to 0.8507.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 99.87.
