Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which rose 4.65% or 9.70 points to trade at 218.40 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) added 3.60% or 5.86 points to end at 168.86 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 2.01% or 5.60 points to 284.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 3.30% or 6000 points to trade at 176000 in late trade. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 1.98% or 17.00 points to end at 843.00 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) shed 1.88% or 0.0036 points to 0.1854.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 112 to 95 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.37% to 23.720.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.48% or 6.05 to $1254.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.08% or 0.55 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.54 to trade at $54.90 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.32% to 56.1988, while EUR/RUB rose 0.18% to 60.014.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 100.54.
