Sri Lanka shares higher at close of trade; CSE All-Share up 0.54%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Trading and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.54%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 18.14% or 26.40 points to trade at 171.90 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Agstar PLC (CM:AGST) was up 15.69% or 0.80 points to 5.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Taprobane Holdings PLC (CM:TAPR), which lost 10.42% or 0.500 points to trade at 4.300 in late trade. Colombo City Holdings PLC (CM:PHAR) declined 7.93% or 69.80 points to end at 810.20 and Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK) shed 7.69% or 0.10 points to 1.20.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 29 and 45 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.06% or 0.56 to $52.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.98% or 0.55 to hit $55.46 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.15 to trade at $1197.65 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.26% to 183.560, while USD/LKR rose 0.45% to 150.630.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 101.19.
