Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.66% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 6.66% or 0.4650 points to trade at 7.4450 at the close. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 4.77% or 0.535 points to end at 11.750 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 4.77% or 12.30 points to 270.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 5.41% or 38.60 points to trade at 674.40 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.13% or 6.20 points to end at 191.80 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) shed 2.93% or 39.0 points to 1293.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 90 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.41% to 20.080.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.70% or 9.17 to $1323.27 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.57% or 1.18 to hit $47.14 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.59% or 1.82 to trade at $52.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.90% to 58.0385, while EUR/RUB fell 0.93% to 68.9545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 92.81.
