Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Metals & Mining and Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Seven Group Holdings Ltd (AX:SVW), which rose 8.73% or 1.030 points to trade at 12.830 at the close. Bluescope Steel Ltd (AX:BSL) added 5.35% or 0.590 points to end at 11.620 and Monadelphous Group Ltd (AX:MND) was up 4.80% or 0.660 points to 14.420 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX), which lost 8.91% or 0.410 points to trade at 4.190 in late trade. Corporate Travel Managment Ltd (AX:CTD) declined 5.97% or 1.380 points to end at 21.720 and Vocus Group Ltd (AX:VOC) shed 5.64% or 0.155 points to 2.595.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 657 to 490 and 375 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 8.59% to 13.552.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 3.59 to $1293.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.42% or 0.20 to hit $47.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.19 to trade at $51.85 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.01% to 0.7939, while AUD/JPY rose 0.29% to 86.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.13.
