Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471), which rose 9.98% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.73 at the close. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) added 9.96% or 3.50 points to end at 38.65 and First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) was up 9.93% or 1.35 points to 14.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Laboratories Inc (TW:4746), which lost 8.94% or 6.00 points to trade at 61.10 in late trade. Merry Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2439) declined 7.69% or 15.00 points to end at 180.00 and Arcadyan Technology Corp (TW:3596) shed 7.54% or 4.10 points to 50.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 481 to 302 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.78% or 0.49 to $63.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.46% or 0.32 to hit $69.14 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.50 to trade at $1310.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 29.618, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2205.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 92.27.
