Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which rose 9.98% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.35 at the close. Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) added 9.92% or 1.20 points to end at 13.30 and Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) was up 7.05% or 1.05 points to 15.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RichWave Technology Corp (TW:4968), which lost 5.58% or 7.00 points to trade at 118.50 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 5.33% or 3.20 points to end at 56.80 and Globe Union Industrial Corp (TW:9934) shed 4.74% or 1.00 points to 20.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 475 to 271 and 128 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.16% or 0.07 to $42.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.18% or 0.08 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.07 to trade at $1255.47 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 30.370, while TWD/CNY rose 0.22% to 0.2248.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 97.08.
