Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump indicated on Sunday that the UK might be able to dodge tariffs, despite being "out of line" in terms of trade. He expressed optimism about resolving the trade imbalance with Britain, stating, "I think that one can be worked out."

Over the weekend, Trump imposed extensive tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China. He also confirmed that these tariffs would "definitely happen" with the European Union, sparking concerns of a potential trade war that could slow economic growth and increase consumer costs.

When questioned about the possibility of Britain facing tariffs, Trump responded, "We'll see how things work out. It might happen with them, but it will definitely happen with the European Union, I can tell you that."

Trump criticized the UK and EU for their trade practices as he returned to Washington from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

He stated, "The UK is way out of line," and added, "The European Union is really out of line. The UK is out of line, but I think that one can be worked out. But the European Union is an atrocity, what they've done."
