Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 3.86% or 6.05 points to trade at 162.95 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.23% or 128.00 points to end at 5,874.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 1.97% or 275.00 points to 14,250.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.84% or 52.00 points to trade at 708.40 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 4.68% or 24.80 points to end at 505.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 4.58% or 23.00 points to 479.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1202 to 616 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.84% or 34.05 to $1,820.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.08% or 2.48 to hit $77.98 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.76% or 2.38 to trade at $83.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.46% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.09% at 105.46.
